Smuggling diesel, assets for 18 million euros seized

The provincial command of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples, under the coordination of the public prosecutor’s office, carried out, between the provinces of Naples, Salerno and Reggio Calabria, a preventive seizure order aimed at confiscating, even by equivalent, assets worth over 18 million euros, due to four companies and related directors operating in the fuel trading and distribution sector. Seized, in particular, current accounts, cash, precious and jewels, cars and real estate, equal to the VAT evaded on false invoices recorded and declared to the tax authorities, against the legal representatives of multiple companies, under investigation for tax fraud. The mechanism reconstructed by the financiers of the I Nucleo Operativo Metropolitano of Naples consisted in importing the energy product by sea from Spain, from a Maltese capital company, with decision-making bases in Naples and Catania, and storing it, in suspension of tax, near of a Neapolitan coastal deposit. From here the fuel was sold only in paper form, and therefore without paying excise duty and VAT, to another tax warehouse located in Calabria and made to be sold to ‘paper mills’ companies, with no deposit or any organizational structure, which bought only on paper. the product exempt from VAT and then sell it with the issue of false invoices to commercial warehouses in Campania. The latter were in fact the only users of the contraband fuel that had never moved from Naples.
