The seven, citizens of Eastern Europe, are seriously suspected of being part of a transnational organization The police arrested seven people in Milan and other cities of Lombardy seriously suspected of being part of a transnational organization active in the trafficking of false documents , also supplied to foreign fighters. The operation, called The Caucasian Job, arises from the investigations launched following an anti-terrorism operation conducted in December 2019 by the Austrian authorities on a possible planning of attacks in Europe and has allowed to highlight links with international terrorist circuits of religious origin and , in particular, with the perpetrator of the attack in Vienna on 2 November last. Those arrested are citizens of Eastern Europe. The investigation was coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Directorate of the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office and conducted by Digos in synergy with the Prevention Police Central Directorate, with the support of the ECTC – European Counter Terrorism Center of Europol and the collaboration of the Guardia di Finanza .
