Miccoli, Cassation confirms conviction for extortion

The sentence of three years and six months for the former Palermo striker Fabrizio Miccoli becomes definitive. The second criminal section of the Court of Cassation, rejecting the former football player’s appeal, confirmed the sentence decided in January 2020 by the Palermo Court of Appeal for extortion aggravated by the mafia method. Therefore accepted the request of the deputy attorney general of the Supreme Court Fulvio Baldi to reject the appeal. Miccoli is accused of having solicited Mauro Lauricella, the son of a mafioso in the Kalsa district, to ask the entrepreneur Andrea Graffagnini to return twenty thousand euros on behalf of his friend Giorgio Gasparini. The money was the result of the sale of the Paparazzi nightclub in Isola delle Femmine.
