Covid, cases on the rise in prisons: positive 150 inmates and 152 prison policemen

Covid cases in Italian prisons are still growing. There are 150 positive inmates (including 14 newcomers), out of a total of 53,816 presences, while cases are 152 among the 36,939 prison policemen on duty. The data, updated as of yesterday, are published in the weekly report on the website of the Ministry of Justice. Last week the cases were 103 among the detainees, out of a population of 53,777 units, and 133 among the officers. Of the positive inmates, 146 are asymptomatic, 2 have symptoms and are managed within the institutions and 2 are hospitalized. Among the policemen 149 are asymptomatic in home isolation and 3 are hospitalized in the barracks. Finally, twelve are the positives among the 4,021 units of the staff of the prison administration, all in home isolation, last week there were 11. Meanwhile the vaccination campaign goes on: 83,378 doses of the anti covid vaccine administered to the prisoners. On the other hand, 25,051 prison policemen have been sent for vaccination and 2,823 personnel of the Administration.
