Bonetti: “Violence against women, a phenomenon of dramatic proportions, the government is a priority”

“The data testify to a phenomenon of dramatic proportions, which requires strategy and an overall vision and, at the same time, a transversal commitment to be close to the victims of violence. The Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, reiterated this clearly yesterday: the protection of women is an absolute priority of the Government, which intends to tackle the hateful problem of gender-based violence in all its aspects, from prevention to support to the victims “. Thus Elena Bonetti, Minister for Equal Opportunities and Family, with a message of greeting and thanks to the organizers and participants of the event held in the Senate ‘All the faces of violence’, promoted by the Anti-violence Network of the Municipality of Milan and Gilead Sciences Italy. “With the National Strategic Plan against Male Violence against Women 2021-2023, which we presented yesterday, the Government has taken a significant step forward: it chooses the stability and structurality of law enforcement activities and also of State investment in supporting the network of anti-violence centers, which do extraordinary work throughout the country. It is an important investment that we make structural in budget with 30 million euros, to which are added further and structural 5 million euros for the implementation of the Plan and the same amount for the implementation of the Equality Plan. Today we are all called together to implement synergistic and transversal actions, as you are also doing to help women and allow each to get out of violence and start a new life in autonomy and freedom ”, concluded Bonetti.
