Forestami starts again. On November 21, National Tree Day, new trees begin to be planted. Already 284,817 trees have been planted in the Municipalities of the Metropolitan City of Milan, including the Municipality of Milan thanks to the project promoted by the Municipality of Milan, the Metropolitan City of Milan, the Lombardy Region-ERSAF, Parco Nord Milano, Parco Agricolo Sud Milano and Fondazione di Comunità Milan, based on a research carried out by the Politecnico di Milano (Department of Architecture and Urban Studies), supported by the Falck Foundation and FS Sistemi Urbani, with the collaboration of the University of Milan and the University of Milano Bicocca. The project has the ultimate goal of planting 3 million trees (number corresponding to the inhabitants of Milan and its hinterland) and increasing the natural capital of the metropolitan city of Milan by 2030. “Cop26 – declares the Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala – presented us with the need to continue on the path of ecological transition with great determination. Forestami is one of the most important and concrete projects we have started. We are ready to plant over 90,000 new trees in the Metropolitan City and will exceed the promised target of over 300,000 by the end of the year. Planting trees means looking to the future, building a sustainable and more liveable city. Milan is there and is doing its part.
