No vax, anathema of the bishops: “Far from the Gospel and the Constitution”

Anathema of the Italian Bishops to the no vax. The Italian Bishops’ Conference, in the message for the 44th National Day for Life, denounces no vax behavior in no uncertain terms. “There was no lack of manifestations of selfishness, indifference and irresponsibility, often characterized by a misunderstood affirmation of freedom and a distorted conception of rights. Very often – notes the CEI – they were understandably afraid and confused people, also basically victims of the pandemic; in other cases, however, these behaviors and speeches have expressed a vision of the human person and social relationships far removed from the Gospel and the spirit of the Constitution “. The CEI also takes the field once again to denounce abortion practices. Starting from the perspective of the referendum to decriminalize “the murder of the consenting party”. The Bishops denounce that these practices go against the Gospel and the spirit of the Constitution. “The reaffirmation of the ‘right to abortion’ and the prospect of a referendum to decriminalize the murder of the consenting person go in the same direction”, denounces the Permanent Episcopal Council. “Without wishing to enter into the important legal issues involved, – they underline – it is necessary reiterate that there is no expression of compassion in helping to die, but the prevalence of an anthropological and nihilistic conception in which neither hope nor interpersonal relationships find more space “.” Those who suffer – says the CEI – must be accompanied and helped to find reasons for living; it is necessary to ask for the application of the law on palliative care and pain therapy “. The real right to be claimed is that every life, terminal or nascent, is adequately guarded. Ending an existence is never a victory, neither for freedom, nor for humanity, nor for democracy: it is almost always the tragic outcome of people left alone with their problems and their desperation. The answer that every fragile life silently solicits is that of custody. As a Christian community we continually experience that when a person is welcomed, accompanied, supported, encouraged, every problem can be overcome or in any case faced with courage and hope “.
