Bad weather Italy, tomorrow orange weather alert in 5 regions

Bad weather hits Italy and it is orange alert from tomorrow – Wednesday 3 November – in 5 regions. In fact, Campania, Lazio, Molise, Abruzzo and Sardinia will be affected by the alert. But the vast perturbation of Atlantic origin, from next night, will nevertheless reach most of the regions causing a phase of severe bad weather especially in the Center-North and part of the South. A general strengthening of the winds from the western quadrants is also expected. On the basis of the available forecasts, the Department of Civil Protection in agreement with the regions involved – which are responsible for activating the civil protection systems in the territories concerned – has therefore issued a warning of adverse weather conditions. The weather phenomena, impacting on the various areas of the country, could in fact determine hydrogeological and hydraulic criticalities. From the early morning of tomorrow, widespread rainfall is also expected, with a prevalent downpour or thunderstorm character, over Lazio, Campania, Abruzzo and Molise, with more persistent phenomena close to the Apennine sectors. Also from the early morning of tomorrow, scattered rainfall is expected, also of a downpour or thunderstorm, on Lombardy and Veneto, especially alpine sectors, and on northern Puglia. The phenomena will be accompanied by showers of strong intensity, frequent electrical activity and strong gusts of wind.ORANGE AND YELLOW ALERT On the basis of the expected and ongoing phenomena, an orange alert on part of Campania, Lazio, Molise, was therefore assessed for tomorrow. Abruzzo and Sardinia. A yellow alert was also assessed on the remaining sectors of Campania, Lazio, Molise, Abruzzo and Sardinia and on part of Lombardy, Tuscany, Veneto, Liguria, Basilicata, Puglia and the entire Umbrian territory. The meteorological framework and the critical issues forecast for Italy is updated daily on the basis of new forecasts and the evolution of the phenomena, and is available on the website of the Department of Civil Protection (www.protezionecivile.gov.it), together with the general rules of behavior to be taken in case of bad weather. The information on the regional alert levels, on the specific criticalities that could affect the individual territories and on the prevention actions adopted are managed by the territorial civil protection structures, in contact with which the Department will monitor the evolution of the situation.
