Trieste outbreak, Riccardi: “No Green Pass in protest”

“The most important Covid-19 outbreak at the moment is in Trieste and originates from the protests against the Green pass”. This was reported by the deputy governor of Friuli Venezia Giulia with responsibility for Health, Riccardo Riccardi, highlighting how the regional task force is working on the analysis of the contagion. “There are 70 cases. We are witnessing a rapid evolution in the number of infections although at the moment the impact on hospitals is modest”. “We are witnessing a general growth trend of the epidemic, especially in Trieste, exponentially – indicated the deputy governor -. It could be difficult, or take a long time, to bring down the contagion curve and this raises some concern”. Riccardi underlines on the one hand a vaccination coverage that is still too low and on the other the need to accelerate on the third dose. “At this moment the outbreak of cases connected to the events taking place in Trieste is the largest in the Region – Riccardi remarked -; only in the capital of Friuli Venezia Giulia there are a few hundred cases of the last 7 days with an unknown or unknown origin The growth phase of infections we are witnessing now also derives from a condition of viral circulation already quite high in mid-September in Trieste linked to the return of positive cases from holidays “.
