Achille Lauro from the pediatric patients of the Nemo Center in Ancona

The artist Achille Lauro went to the Ospedali Riuniti of Ancona on the afternoon of 7 September, on the IX World Day on Duchenne and Becker Dystrophy. A few hours before his concert in Pescara, in the ‘parallel tour’ he is carrying out in the pediatric wards of some Italian hospitals, in Torrette Lauro he met the children of pediatric cardiac surgery and the patients of the Nemo Clinical Center, the seventh headquarters of the clinical centers involved in treatment and research on neuromuscular diseases. (SEE THE PHOTOS) “It is extraordinary for us to celebrate the World Awareness Day on Duchenne Dystrophy with the message of possibility and talent that Achille Lauro has given to our children – declares Alberto Fontana, president of the Nemo Clinical Centers – Today we had the opportunity to share the desire for life and plans for the future; to tell the courage to face one’s limits, without fear of the complexity of the disease. We celebrated the beauty of being there for each other, in the friendship and in the value of the care that the Nemo Center represents for all families living the experience of a neuromuscular disease “. Achille Lauro’s visit to Nemo Ancona – we read in a joint note hospital-Nemo Clinical Center – was born from a story of friendship, as unexpected as it is true, between the artist and Franceso Venturi, a young poet from the Marche region, a patient from the center, who has lived with Duche’s muscular dystrophy from an early age nne and with a great passion for poetry. It is Lauro who dedicates the preface and afterword to his first work ‘Tutto di me’, a collection of poems and flows of thought, as defined by the young author. Like the coincidences that happen when dreams come true, together with Lauro the weight of the lightness of those who love life and its beauty despite the limit was celebrated, like the red balloon symbol of the Day dedicated to rare pathology that affects 250 thousand people at the world and who knows how to take flight and go far away, despite his fragility. with them in the ward where science takes care of their heart, but is also capable of preserving the desire to grow up by giving emotions and giving young patients the dream of continuing to believe that everything is possible, despite the challenge of having to face a complex disease, a feast of smiles and games. Children, parents, operators, doctors and directors together, as Martini says: “Today was a beautiful day, seeing the smiles on the faces of these children filled my heart with joy. It is incredible how simple gestures create an energy and an inner strength that makes us feel, even during hospitalization, serene and invincible. I thank Achille Lauro for the wonderful surprise that illuminated the day of the children and their families “. At the Nemo Center, accompanied by the multidisciplinary team of operators, Lauro dedicated special attention to each patient – he relates the note – pausing in every room of the ward and then meeting the younger guests in the gym. A moment of extraordinary simplicity made of listening, exchanging experiences, projects, confidences and lots of laughter, as you do when you meet a friend.
