Franceschini, ‘The birth of Mudimed enhances scientific culture’

“This initiative has the merit of enhancing scientific culture. Our country has an extraordinary museum heritage, but compared to the history of our scientific culture we have, compared to other countries, few science museums. It is a sector on which we must work, together with the universities and other institutions involved. Regarding the digital approach, we have all seen what acceleration the pandemic has imposed in this sector. There are great spaces for growth, to be grasped in a fair and balanced way. Real and digital can and must coexist, they are not an alternative to the other, but complementary: digital platforms widen the audience of people who approach cultural contents, without taking the public from museums, theaters or cinemas. Finally, this is a great example of public-private collaboration. The two worlds must interact in the promotion of culture and in the management of cultural heritage. This idea stems from the desire of an important company like Novartis to do something for the culture and for the country. I believe it is an important road, a good initiative that can indicate to many other companies the path to follow in collaboration in the service of culture “. Thus the Minister of Culture, Dario Franceschini, during the press conference for the presentation of Mudimed, the Digital Museum of the History of the Scientific Method in Medicine.
