Rome Festival, the Competition closes: here are all the prizes

Starting from the seventeenth edition, the Rome Film Fest has been officially recognized as a Competitive Festival by Fiapf (Fédération Internationale des Associations de Producteurs de Films). Following, all the awards assigned today, Saturday 22 October, during the award ceremony which took place at 4.30 pm in the Sala Petrassi of the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone. For the Progressive Cinema Competition, a jury composed of director and cartoonist Marjane Satrapi, actor and director Louis Garrel, directors Juho Kuosmanen and Pietro Marcello and producer Gabrielle Tana awarded the following awards: Best Film to Janvāris (January) by Viesturs Kairišs; Grand Jury Prize to Jeong-sun by Jeong Ji-hye; Best Director: Viesturs Kairišs for Janvāris (January); Best Actress – ‘Monica Vitti’ Award to Kim kum-soon for Jeong-sun; Best Actor – ‘Vittorio Gassman’ Award to Kārlis Arnolds Avots for Janvāris (January); Best Screenplay to Andrea Bagney for ‘Ramona’; Special Jury Prize (proposed by the President to be chosen from the categories of script, photography, editing and original soundtrack): ‘Foudre’ by Carmen Jaquier for photography by Marine Atlan. The Special Mention of the Jury was also awarded to the actress Lilith Grasmug for her performance in Foudre. For the Best Comedy section – ‘Ugo Tognazzi’ award, the jury chaired by the filmmaker Carlo Verdone and composed of the actress Marisa Paredes and the author and actress Teresa Mannino awarded the ‘Ugo Tognazzi’ Prize to the Best Comedy (chosen from the titles of the Progressive Cinema, Freestyle and Grand Public Competition sections), to the film ‘What’s love got to do with it? by Shekhar Kapur. The Special Mention for Best Comedy – ‘Ugo Tognazzi’ Award was also assigned to the film ‘Ramona’ by Andrea Bagney. For the Best First Feature Bnl Bnp Paribas, the jury chaired by director and screenwriter Julie Bertuccelli and composed by director Roberto De Paolis and from film critics Daniela Michel awarded the Best First Feature Bnl Bnp Paribas Award (chosen from the titles of the Progressive Cinema, Freestyle and Grand Public Competition sections), to the film ‘Causeway’ by Lila Neugebauer. Two Special Mentions for Best First Work Bnl Bnp Paribas were also awarded to the films ‘Ramona’ by Andrea Bagney and ‘Foudre’ by Carmen Jaquier. One section was also dedicated to the FS Audience Award. Among the films in the Progressive Cinema Competition, spectators awarded the FS Audience Award to Ady Walter’s film ‘Shhtl’.
