Renzo Arbore is back on TV with ‘Appresso alla musica’

Renzo Arbore is back on TV, on Rai 5, with a new program in the name of programs such as his historic ‘DOC’ and the great national and international music of the ’70s,’ 80s and ’90s: it is’ Appresso alla musica. In two it tells better ‘, twenty episodes broadcast from Monday to Friday in the third evening (10.40 pm) on Rai 5 and in rerun at 6 pm the following day, starting from Monday 10 October. “Instead of studying you go after music”: is the phrase that Arbore’s father repeated to him to reproach him, but music has always been his greatest and unstoppable passion and as a disc jockey he is considered the first Italian in history, then as a video jockey and, again, with the Italian Orchestra with which he traveled the world for 30 years and more. One thousand six hundred concerts ‘around the world’, from the Red Square in Moscow to the Radio City Music Hall in New York, to the Rio de Janeiro sambadrome. And then in Venezuela, China, Japan, Australia and in the most beautiful locations and squares of our country.In the program Renzo Arbore finds Gegè Telesforo, his company of choice when it comes to music and also this new television adventure can only present itself as a “journey” among the sounds and the many anecdotes drawn from the vast personal repertoire of Arbore and sold free to Rai. During the 20 episodes there will be moments and memories of Arbore’s television programs, backstage of the great theaters during his tours, but above all the recovery of the repertoire materials of “DOC – Music and more with controlled designation of origin”, conceived and conducted by Renzo Arbore with Monica Nannini and Gegè Telesforo from 1987 to 1989 under the direction of Pino Leoni. So “DOC” is back on TV after almost 35 years, in a remastered and restored version by Emiliano Bortone for Black Ice srl, with the commentary by Telesforo, amidst memories, unpublished and personal materials kept by Arbore himself. An infinite archive that Arbore has been sharing for years on its Channel TV which in fact represents a heritage of the history of entertainment, culture and Italian TV. But during the program, the showman will also offer viewers an absolutely new repertoire, made up of ‘memorabilia’, of encounters with artists from the national and international scene with whom he shared his love for music. In two it tells better “- through the testimonies of Arbore and Telesforo – he will give voice and will remember, in fact, great stars of world music of the 70s, 80s and 90s such as Dee Dee Bridgewater, James Brown, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Solomon Burke, Rufus Thomas, Pat Metheny, Manhattan Transfer, Chet Baker, harmonica player Toots Thielemans, Joe Cocker, Jimmy Smith and other performers of the same level.
