Venice cinema exhibition, to Colin Farrell and Cate Blanchett the Volpi Cup

The Coppa Volpi men of the Venice Film Festival 2022 went to Irish actor Colin Farrell, for the film ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ by Martin McDonagh (Ireland), a story of friendships and breakups with shocking implications, set on a remote island in the off the west coast of Ireland. “I didn’t expect it, and it’s wonderful, it’s a really special moment. Thanks to Alberto (Barbera, ed) and the jurors,” said Colin Farrell in connection from Los Angeles. “I’m sorry not to be there, but I’m not complaining because I’m here because I’m working,” said the actor, who was awarded for the film ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ by Martin McDonagh (Ireland), a story of friendships and shockingly twisted breaks, set on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland. The Volpi Cup for Best Female Interpretation at the 2022 Venice Film Festival was awarded to Australian actress Cate Blanchett, starring in the role of a harassing conductor, in the film ‘Tar’ by Todd Fields (United States). “It is an honor to receive this award in Venice, a wonderful festival because it invites the public to go to the cinemas,” said the actress. “This film was an extraordinary experience for me that changed my life enormously not only as an actress but as a human being – added Blanchett – Thanks to this experience that has been and continues to be extraordinary. I thank the director, all the cast of the film and my family who was by my side during the shooting. And then I would like to say thanks to all the people who make music in the world, who inspire us with their notes, who help us to live better, especially in the last two years”.
