Venice 2022, is the day of Guadagnino: the first Italian film in competition

The first of the five Italian films in competition arrives today at the Venice Film Festival 2022: Luca Guadagnino with ‘Bones and All’. The director returns to direct Timothée Chalamet for a love story of teen cannibalism in the Midwest, in deep provincial America. Timothèe Chalamet fans will have a new opportunity to steal a photo or autograph of the young actor who has already worked with Guadagnino for ‘Call me by your name’. Also competing is ‘Athena’ by Romain Gavras which tells of a family war that becomes a social conflict, and ‘A couple’ by the master of the documentary Frederick Wiseman, 92, who tells in his first fictional film the relationship between the writer Lev Tolstoy and his wife Sofia. In the Horizons section, Isabelle Huppert returns in ‘La syndicaliste’ by Jean-Paul Salomé on the story of Maureen Kearney, union representative of the nuclear power plant of a French multinational. Among the protagonists of the day also the director Abel Ferrara who presents his ‘Padre Pio’ interpreted by Shia LaBeouf.
