Ghali launches a fundraiser to save migrants in the Mediterranean. The Milanese rapper of Tunisian origins, who has always been sensitive to the issue of rescuing migrants at sea, with his first donation has thus started the fundraising for new ‘rescue boats’ to equip the Ionian Sea, the only ship flying the Italian flag of the ‘Civil Fleet’ of search and rescue in the Central Mediterranean. The purchase of a first auxiliary boat will allow Mare Jonio to renew the certifications in order to continue its rescue missions in the coming months. Just the last few weeks, in the face of the dramatic worsening of human rights violations in Libya and the worsening of the social situation in Tunisia, have seen an intensification of departures for the European coasts. And for this very reason, every extra rescue ship at sea can mean the difference between life and death for hundreds of women, men and children on the road. The funds raised will allow Mediterranea rescue teams to continue operating in the waters of the Sicilian channel. From today on the social profiles of Ghali you will find ways to participate in the fundraising which will in fact be aimed at the complete renewal of the safety equipment of the Ionian Sea, the ship of Mediterranea Saving Humans: if the crowdfunding objectives are achieved, the ship will be able to count on two new rescue boats, fast rescue boats, and related new launching / ditching devices (davit crane), the additional generator necessary to make them work and life raft (self-inflating boats) that will integrate them (link to the crowdfunding campaign: https : //donate.mediterranearescue.it/bayna/). Mediterranea has been engaged since October 2018 in witnessing and denouncing what happens in our sea and in helping those who find themselves in difficulty in those waters when necessary. This year Mediterranea has already carried out three missions at sea in which it has saved a total of 306 human lives and, at the same time, has actively participated in solidarity with the Ukrainian populations by completing three land missions in the war zone, in which it has delivered over 40 tons of humanitarian aid and rescued over two hundred people, without making distinctions of nationality or origin of any kind. The first “rescue boat” to be purchased with the donation of Ghali will be operational by August and will be called Bayna, which means “to see clearly” , like the song contained in his new album Sensazione Ultra. “I am very happy to be able to do something concrete for a cause that I believe is fundamental for our future.
