The new animated series of Zerocalcare and Igino Straffi coming to Netflix

There are ‘Mermaid Magic’ by Igino Straffi’s Rainbow and the new adult series by Zerocalcare, after the success of ‘Strappare along the edges’, among the new European animated productions of Netflix, announced in view of the sixty-first edition of’ Annecy International Animation Film Festival to be held next week. So many titles, which each have a distinct tone and language, but are universal in storytelling and themes, and which will soon arrive on the platform. New films include Ember, the sequel to Sergio Pablos’ Bafta Award winner and Academy Award nominee Klaus; the animated musical Scrooge: A Christmas Carol with songs by acclaimed Academy Award winner Leslie Bricusse; That Christmas, based on the children’s books by Bafta award winner Richard Curtis; plus an as-yet-untitled animated film by Steve Box, Oscar-winning Wallace & Gromit – Curse of the Were-Rabbit. As for the series, Netflix announces three new original productions: Bad Dinosaurs by Snafu Pictures and Able & Baker, Mermaid Magic by Rainbow by Igino Straffi, The Seven Bears by Folivari. These are joined by Lime Pictures’ Wereworld, based on Curtis Jobling’s series of fantasy novels, which join an ever-growing offering of animated titles made in Europe, including: Cartoon Saloon’s My Father’s Dragon and Nora Twomey, Academy Award-nominated director, set to debut on Netflix in the fall; Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, an untitled project by Wallace & Gromit from beloved British animation studio Aardman, winner of four Academy Awards; a new adult animated series of Zerocalcare and Captain Fall by Norwegian showrunners Jon Iver Helgaker and Jonas Torgerson.
