When Enzo Robutti died, the actor was 88 years old

He was a character actor in many films between the ’70s and’ 80s, in films of the so-called scollacciata comedy: the actor Enzo Robutti died last March at the age of 88, but by the will of the family the news of the disappearance has only now been spread, as we read on social media. He had been living in a retirement home for some time. Born in Bologna on October 24, 1933, Robutti graduated from the school of the Piccolo Teatro in Milan and then began his career as a comedian in cabarets. He was on the stage of the Milan Derby Club with Enzo Jannacci, Cochi and Renato, Gianfranco Funari, Toni Santagata, Teo Teocoli, often interpreting surreal and angry characters. His comedy combined with a great mastery of mimicry made him a characteristic mask that he found among his most apt positions in the Italian comedy. It was directed in seven films by Pasquale Festa Campanile, from “The male blackbird” to “It is convenient to make love well”. Among the other films starring “The lady was raped!”, “My love, do not hurt me”, “The inn of maladolescence”, “The slug”, “Does the lady play well at broom?”. Robutti on social media is also remembered for some films among the lovers of the trash genre. In Sergio Martino’s “Sugar, honey and pepper” (1980) he is the hysterical Genoese commissioner struggling with Lino Banfi. In “Bingo Bongo” (1982) with Adriano Celentano is Dr. Muller. He also starred in several “Pierino” films with Alvaro Vitali and is remembered as Professor Pomari in “Pierino strikes again”, director of the boarding school where the ‘boy’ is sent and father of the buttery Enrichetta. Later he worked with Mario Monicelli as Captain of the ship of “I Picari” (1988) and Francis Ford Coppola wanted him in “The Godfather – Part III” (1990), in which he plays the powerful Catholic politician Licio Lucchesi under whom various Italian mafia clans operate. Among the latest films “Forbidden Encounters” (1998) by Alberto Sordi, “Viola bacia tutti” (1998) by Giovanni Veronesi and “Cucciolo” (1998) by Neri Parenti.
