Videocittà 2021, the fourth edition dedicated to the theme of the Planet and people

Lights, colors and sounds create images. Audiovisual landscapes in which to let the mind travel and let thoughts and emotions flow, with guests, debates, talks and videomapping. All this is Videocittà, the Festival of Vision conceived by Francesco Rutelli, for the 2021 edition dedicated to “People and Planet”, or the relationship between man and Planet, and which, for its fourth edition, will take place at Eur, in Rome, from 15 to 19 September, with a rich schedule, to then continue online throughout the year. Under the artistic direction of Francesco Dobrovich, Videocittà is organized with Eur Spa, with Eni Main Partner, with the contribution of the Lazio Region, the Rome Chamber of Commerce and Unioncamere Lazio, in collaboration with Anica. On the occasion of the fourth edition, Videocittà proposes itself once again as an innovative platform, created to promote the excellence of the latest audiovisual frontiers to a vast and heterogeneous audience, free of charge, through the presentation of thematic insights and spectacular images in movement. Videocittà 2021 is dedicated to the theme of the relationship between man and the Planet, with a view to growth and rethinking, essential in this period in which the pandemic forces us to new reflections, for a society that is supportive, responsible and increasingly sustainable at an environmental level, social and civil. “Videocittà is a ‘Festival of Moving Images’, therefore it never stops”, declared Francesco Rutelli, creator of the Festival of Vision, who underlined the “happy combination of Videocittà with Eur spa: more than 400 thousand people came during the first two editions (2018-2019). Eur is history and contemporaneity, a living catalog of modern and contemporary architecture. Eur is a city within a city, also for the initiatives for young people and for the new professions linked to the image in motion ”. Rutelli (Anica), ‘We are for cinema in the room, but we know that industry and the creative process are increasingly integrated’ “From Videocittà – recalled the president of Anica – Antonio Dikele Distefano, Carlotta Perego, Coma Cose, Federica Carta have passed , Anna Foglietta, Andrea Calbucci, Fabio Mollo, Matteo Rovere. Anica – he adds – is transforming by integrating the new digital reality. We are for the cinema experience in the hall, but at the same time we know that the industry and the creative process are increasingly integrated. Netflix and other subjects who have to dialogue with the structure have entered the Anica ”. Returning to the Festival, the former mayor of Rome stressed that “the Videocittà laboratory allows you to meet new subjects, the most watched film before last year’s lockdown was ‘Tolo Tolo’, followed – something unimaginable 3 or 4 years ago – from those of a youtuber and an influencer. The world has changed and now creatives are doing jobs that they could never have done before, because cinema was compartmentalized. Videocittà’s goal is precisely to explore these new spaces ”. The event will take place in the evocative setting of EUR, a district that has always been aimed at the contemporary and today is becoming a reference point in Rome for culture and innovation. “Eur has always interpreted cultural, technological and architectural transformations – recalled Alberto Sasso, president of Eur Spa – The district is capable of supporting important initiatives, it is a complementary destination in Rome, it is a place that has 70 hectares of parks , streets and a rationalist architecture to which we hope the G20 will give credit: it is a place capable of offering a true renewed image of an innovative Rome. Eur is a jewel and our mission is to enhance it. Rome deserves a great renewal and a great planning. The Romans should believe in the unique place where they live and which deserves to enter an extraordinary international dimension “. “An initiative we care a lot about – added Antonio Rosati, CEO of Eur Spa – that for the second consecutive year we have decided to support, because it enhances knowledge, looking to the future, in places and spaces that are dear to us and that will host the event. A concept that, using innovative and creative techniques and tools, is perfectly combined with the concept of the Economy of Beauty, as an engine of social and cultural development, but also economic and financial, in which we believe “. For his part, Francesco Dobrovich, artistic director of the Festival stated that “Videocittà investigates the influence that today experimental, artistic and digital audiovisual contents can have on society through the creativity of new professionals in the sector. Young people and innovators will be the talents that this Videocittà 2021 will propose to the public, because in an age of change, the new generations of professionals are the most lucid and aware interpreters of the contemporary world as well as the best communicators of important and disruptive messages. For this reason, an ethical and necessary theme such as the relationship between man and planet, will have exploded into a multitude of stories, an expression of the strength of the audiovisual as a media in continuous evolution ”. Paolo Orneli, Councilor for Economic Development, Commerce and Crafts of the Lazio Region, reiterated the centrality, within Videocittà, of the “dialogue and contamination between different talents, useful for cinema and for the country. The Lazio Region – he said – supports the ‘Videocittà’ project which is part of the regional ‘Creative Lazio’ project. We are implementing investments, with the new Lazio Cinema International Fund of 70 million, and technologies for the use of contents including those of the Videocittà festival ”.
