Pupi Avati: “ In ‘La via degli angeli’ I chose De Rienzo because he resembled my father ”

“He did ‘La via degli angeli’ with me and it was a great opportunity for him. I chose him because he resembled my father. In fact, in the film he had to play my father and he had that joyfulness, that lightness and also that beauty that reminded me so much of him (Avati’s father, ed.). ” Pupi Avati with Adnkronos recalls the actor and director Libero De Rienzo, who died at the age of 44, talking about his debut in the cinema in 1999, when the actor was just 22 he played his father in the film he directed entitled ‘La via degli Angeli’. “His was an unpredictable death – adds the director with emotion – it is difficult to understand why such a young boy dies of a heart attack. I remember that he was an extremely dynamic boy, he knew cinema in a profound way, he was a cinephile. Being with him was pleasant because we could talk about cinema ”, concludes Avati.
