Spoleto Festival: between music and theater, a tribute to Dante with Armani designer clothes

Today at the Spoleto Festival (programming continues until 11 July) a cycle of appointments and in-depth studies including readings, theater, music to celebrate the seven hundred years since the death of the great poet. The project opens at 7 pm in San Simone, with the Divine Comedy show: the first day of Piero Maccarinelli, on stage until 10 July for four performances (Friday 9 July at 16 and 21.30, Saturday 10 July at 16). With Fausto Cabra, Massimo De Francovich, Luca Lazzareschi and Manuela Mandracchia, wearing the clothes made by Giorgio Armani, Maccarinelli brings Dante’s word to the stage with absolute attention to language, in an evocative visual and sound path created by the lights of Loonen -Piccioli and the sound of Franco Visioli.In the Church of Sant’Eufemia the Ensemble Micrologus performs music from the 13th century Friday 9 July, for the midday concert at the Church of Sant’Eufemia, the Micrologus Ensemble performs the music of the 13th century, those of the lyric poets, the ‘troubadours’, whom Dante knows well and mentions, raising them to his masters, alongside the most ancient production of songs and ballads. In the afternoon, at 3 pm live streaming from the Sala dei Vescovi, the study conference The vapors of the heart: Dante and Music is scheduled, organized by the National Academy of Santa Cecilia with the scientific care of Agostino Ziino. Until 5.30 pm the contributions of Thomas Persico, Francesco Ciabattoni and Pedro Memelsdorff reveal historical, aesthetic and executive aspects of Dante’s literary and musical universe. Sunday 11 July at 3 pm, again in San Simone, Lucia’s Opera-film Ronchetti Inferno retraces the first cantica of the Comedy in a new musical theater production written by the Italian composer commissioned by the Oper und Schauspiel Frankfurt. The verses of the first cantica of the Comedy, in Italian and German, and the music of Lucia Ronchetti directed by Tito Ceccherini join a vast archive of filmed material with singers and actors, produced by director Kay Voges before the suspension of the staging theatrical opera in 2020.at Palazzo Dante exhibition in the lands of the Duchy The proposal is completed by the exhibition Dante in the lands of the Ducato at Palazzo Mauri (9 am-1pm, 4 pm-7pm) and at the State Archives Section of Spoleto (Friday 3 pm -17, Saturday and Sunday 17-20) until 11 July, which tells the links between the poet and the ancient Duchy of Spoleto, with precious incunabula, illustrated editions of the Comedy and geographical maps of the 16th and 17th centuries. the project is carried out with the support of the National Committee for the celebration of the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri. “The show, the concerts, the conference dedicated to him in the program of the Spoleto 2021 Festival are important because they confirm Dante’s lasting relevance and the ability of his work to involve and stimulate contemporary sensitivity and creativity”, declared Maria Ida Gaeta, Secretary General of the Committee.
