Jerusalem, restorations in the Basilica of the Holy Sepulcher

“From this place we will raise an incessant prayer for the end of the pandemic and for peace”. These are the words of friar Francesco Patton, Custos of the Holy Land, regarding the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. The floor will be restored with the direct involvement of the Conservation and Restoration Center La Venaria Reale. The floor represents the connective tissue between the Christian communities of the Basilica: it is a heterogeneous and layered surface, which includes stones that date back to the Middle Ages, colored slabs from different periods of the past and more recent concrete inserts.
