Gigi Proietti ‘relives’ from tomorrow in the direction of ‘Romeo and Juliet’, the last version he directed of William Shakespeare’s opera that reopens the season of the Globe Theater in Rome tomorrow, which now also bears his name. In the space created inside Villa Borghese by the great Roman actor and director who recently passed away, the show will be staged until 25 July, from Wednesday to Sunday. With Matteo Vignati and Mimosa Campironi in the roles of the two protagonists Romeo and Juliet, Fausto Cabra as Mercuzio, Diego Facciotti as Paride, Martino Duane for the father of the Capulets, Roberto Mantovani for the father of the Montecchi, with the scenes signed by Fabiana Di Marco, the costumes by Maria Filippi and the musical contributions by Roberto Giglio. Proietti wrote in the director’s notes: “There is a positive side in the passing of time: you can look back, change perspective, sometimes retracing one’s steps … In the case of a text, returning is a chance to review and develop intuitions and thoughts that have remained unexpressed, discarded in favor of others for lack of harmony, time, courage “.
