‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ with the young actors of the Teatro Stabile del Veneto

The ‘Dream of a Midsummer Night’ by William Shakespeare will relive on 8 and 9 July on the stage of the Veronese Summer Theater, in the new production by Teatro Stabile del Veneto directed by Giorgio Sangati, within the festival organized by Municipality of Verona. The actors of the Compagnia Giovani of the Teatro Stabile del Veneto directed by Giorgio Ferrara, flanked by three professional actors: Sandra Toffolatti, Luciano Roman and Valerio Mazzuccato in the pivotal roles of Oberon and Titania (the king and queen of the fairies) and in the part of Bottom (the naive actor at the head of the amateur dramatics company), to guide them to discover the ‘Dream’ and the magical craft of theater. “In ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ everything is double: real and imaginary, masculine and feminine, rational and irrational, language and body, and the dream itself is also inevitably a nightmare – observes the director Giorgio Sangati – it is a comedy because no one dies; for the rest, the violence of the emotions and the unawareness of the mechanisms that regulate them would lead the protagonists to a decidedly dramatic destiny if the theater did not intervene. need to bother Freud or Jung, the dreams we have every night belong to us no less than what happens to us when awake, precisely because we produce them and when we dream that is, undoubtedly, our reality: the fact of not being able to control it with reason does not make it less present “.
