Jane Campion is the best director and her ‘The power of the dog’ the best drama at the 2022 Golden Globes. The New Zealand director wins the 79th edition of the award, 28 years after the Oscar for ‘Piano Lessons’. Disappointment instead for Paolo Sorrentino, running with ‘It was the hand of God’, and for Enrico Casarosa, with the animated film ‘Luca’. The 2022 edition of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association award was characterized by the absence of any red carpet and speech by the winners: the usually glamorous event turned into a private ceremony not so much due to the pandemic, but above all for the scandals and controversies that have affected the organization. Steven Spielberg’s musical ‘West Side Story’ and the TV series ‘Succession’ have been awarded. The award also goes to Nicole Kidman (fifth prize out of 17 nominations) for ‘Being the Ricardos’ and Will Smith for ‘King Richard’, Andrew Garfield for the musical ‘Tick, Tick… BOOM!’ and Kate Winslet as Best Actress in the ‘Murder in Eastown’ miniseries.
