Exhibitions: ‘The dream of a ridiculous man’, homage to Dostoevsky by Marco Bernardi

On 22 December in the halls of the Galleria Umberto Mastroianni, Museums of San Salvatore in Lauro, Piazza San Salvatore in Lauro, 15, the exhibition ‘The dream of a ridiculous man’, by the artist Marco Bernardi, opens to the public until 30 January 2022. The exhibition, curated by Olga Strada, focuses on FM Dostoevskij’s fantastic tale of the same name, which this year marks the 200th anniversary of its birth. The work of the Roman artist, whose expressive figure is characterized by originality and irony, has been translated into a series of sculptures and installations that arise from the words of the homonymous story by Dostoevsky. “The artist’s ability to remodel recovered objects, giving them additional meanings, is a distinctive feature of his poiesis. The encounter with the written text is not new for Marco Bernardi, which proves his sensitivity to ‘translating’ into images the words of authors whose literary universe opens up to multiple interpretative horizons are very personal. In this sense, in his way of approaching the Dostoevskian tale, there is a certain consonance of dreamlike visionary full of vital inspiration “.
