Journey into medieval painting at the Micro with the exhibition by Silvia Salvadori

She is one of the few artists to paint with the ancient techniques of Tuscan medieval art. It is Silvia Salvadori, artist, archaeologist and conservator of cultural heritage who in Rome proposes her exhibition ‘The structure and the soul of color’ which will be inaugurated on December 16th at 6pm at the Micro Arti Visive space of Paola Valori. The exhibition, which will be presented by the critic Roberto Litta, is made up of ten unique works of their kind. Salvadori, in fact, has specialized in the recovery of ancient techniques, and in particular the Tuscan ones of the 1300s and 1400s. From here she began an experimentation path based on the study of ancient recipe books from the Late Middle Ages and the Early Renaissance, first of all the Book of the Art by Cennino Cennini (among the most famous treatises that have ever been handed down). He studies and deepens the painting of Piero della Francesca, reinterprets the language of Simone Martini, Duccio di Boninsegna and all the greatest of the Sienese school, imagining landscapes, iconographies and scenarios of the time; and as then she faithfully uses powders and burins, with the addition of the thin leaves of pure gold, a precious element that she herself defines ‘her signature’ “.” Her works are unique – writes Roberto Litta in the curatorial text – extraordinary for refinement and refined trait, retain emotional capacity that will give value to the passing of time, such as the precious powders and the explosive trait of the themes of his paintings that make themselves seen, that make themselves heard. (…) push to a dreamlike descent that in reality it awakens in us the lofty sense of a blue extended to infinity, of emerald green eyes aimed at a lost humanity that must recover its own era, raising with the power of ruby ​​red a reaction and a definitive redemption that consecrates, as in destiny of the great artists, in these works the perennial victory of man over death. “The exhibition is characterized as a real three-day immersion in the art of the Middle Ages, not only to celebrate a mome history rich in works and personalities, but also to get to know an artist who found his main source of inspiration in the old masters, in a contemporary way. During the inaugural event, on 16 December starting at 6 pm, there will be a practical demonstration by the artist of some phases of the processing of a table: from the preparation of the canvas to the primer, up to the gilding and painting. It will also be possible to visit the exhibition on the following days, Friday 17 and Saturday 18 December from 15.30 to 19. Admission is free, allowed to visitors with a mask and a Covid-19 GreenPass.
