“It will be a multi-platform Festival and we have acquired new partners, such as MYmovies.it.” This was stated by Roberto Genovesi, artistic director of Cartoons on the Bay, the event on the trends of the animation market promoted by Rai and organized by Rai Com, which ‘year will be held at the Movieplex de’ L’Aquila from 3 to 8 December and which will be ‘digital’ on three different platforms, Cartoons on the Bay Channel, RaiPlay and MYmovies.it, which will offer to the public and accredited as many different types of contents, from interviews with the protagonists of animation and the world of transmedia languages to the works selected for international competitions, all organized with an on demand schedule. “This year’s edition – says Genovesi – pays homage to Nathan Never and Sergio Bonelli, 10 years after his death. With Bonelli we have created the Sergio Bonelli Award. We wanted to dedicate the 2021 event to Franco Battiato. Another anniversary is the birth of Emanuele Luzzati, whom we actually celebrate every year since his is the Pulcinella of our manifesto “. Three platforms, therefore, to be in line with an evolving world, continuing a discourse that began compulsorily last year due to the pandemic, but which served to develop a new way of organizing and communicating events. A system already tested with great success in the 2020 edition, which recorded exceptional numbers as regards accesses on RaiPlay and viewing hours, and which expands this year through MYmovies, the streaming platform of the great Italian festivals, including the Venice International Film Festival, and where Cartoons on the Bay lands. Furthermore, from 3 to 8 December the screen of the Movieplex de L’Aquila will light up with the magic of cinema for children, in animation and live action, a taste of what will be the program of Cartoons on the Bay in its summer edition.
