Austrian President Alexander van der Bellen, in these days in Rome where he met Prime Minister Mario Draghi today, went to visit the Archaeological Park of Ostia Antica. Accompanied by his wife Doris Schmidauer, by the Austrian Minister of Ecology Leonore Gewessler and welcomed by the director of the Park, Alessandro D’Alessio, as a first stop, due to the rain, van der Bellen visited the Ostiense Museum, in this period closed for renovation , but open for the occasion. The second stop of the visit was the Thermopolium, a sort of ‘bar’ complete with a counter for serving, which is located in the oldest part of the Park. In the meantime, once the rain had ceased, the visit continued towards the Capitolium and the Forum of the ancient city, before moving towards the theater and ending with an exchange of gifts between the director of the Park and the Austrian president. The latter gave D’Alessi a traditional Sachertorte.
