The Indian writer Amitav Ghosh in Rome to talk about sustainability and the environment

On the occasion of the release of his book in verse “Jungle nama. The tale of the jungle”, published by Neri Pozza, the Indian writer Amitav Ghosh will be in Italy to meet readers and talk to them about the environment and climate change, also using his rhymes. The volume, dedicated to the harmony between man and the cosmos, tells of an ancient legend, kept in the heart of the Sundarban, the largest mangrove forest in the world. It is that of Dokkhin Rai, a terrible spirit who, spreading terror, dictates his law and reigns supreme. Under the guise of a tiger, he suddenly appears in the presence of the unfortunate who dare to venture into his realm and devours them. The book is enriched with drawings by Salman Toor. Amitav Ghosh will be in the capital on November 15 (at 11.30 am) at the European Institute of Design, Ied, where he will hold a Lectio magistralis entitled “What Do We Miss When We Speak of Sustainability?”, Which will be broadcast in live streaming on morethanmonday.ied.it While in the evening, at 7 pm, at the Piccolo Eliseo Theater in Rome, Marina Forti and Stefano Liberti converse with Ghosh, accompanied by Readings by Giuseppe Cederna.Ghosh, the son of a diplomat, was born in Calcutta in 1956, studied in Oxford and currently lives between Goa and New York. Considered one of the greatest Indian writers, he worked as a journalist and anthropologist before moving to Kerala and then to the United States, where he met his wife Deborah Becker. For a long time he taught creative writing at Columbia University in New York and was a correspondent for the “New Yorker”.
