The Foundation of the National Dance Academy of Rome returns to the Terpsichorean scene with a project dedicated to young Italian and foreign dancers and choreographers. Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture (MIC) within the projects financed by the Single Entertainment Fund (Fus) for generational turnover, Fand has created Orchestica Variation, an innovative initiative that looks to the past to discover the future. Art, evolution, culture, body and means of expression. These are the foundations on which Orchestica Variation is founded, a project that includes a total of two months of initiatives between November and December 2021. Rome will welcome the events aimed at enhancing the Orchestica, a technique created by Jia Ruskaja today completely abandoned. The project was born with the aim of rediscovering and enhancing, therefore, the Orchestica, the choreutic teaching of Jia Ruskaja born in Italy in the 30s of the twentieth century, almost completely forgotten. Two months of initiatives between November and December 2021 promoted by the FAND, thanks to the financial support of the Ministry of Culture (Mic), which aim to analyze an experience never practiced again, making it reborn from the blanket of dust it had been covered. Under the artistic direction of Chiara Zoppolato (President Fand), the rich program of events includes a series of activities aimed at young dancers, choreographers and scholars, offering them the opportunity to deepen and reconstruct an expressive language that looks to the past but in a contemporary optics. It will be possible to take part in creative processes, public meetings and special projects, dedicated to the historical figure of Jia Ruskaja, with the aim of paving the way for an experiential and unprecedented knowledge of a dance technique and of the woman who imagined and conceived it. . The exhibition, the conference and the final performance that will close the initiative are also dedicated to Jia Ruskaja and her Orchestica. With Daniela Capacci, dancer, choreographer and former teacher of the National Academy of Dance, the programming of Orchestica Variation opens on November 13 (2.30 pm) with a workshop at the headquarters of Danzarmonia Academy (via San Silverio, 39 – Rome ). The first appointment will serve to illustrate and analyze the Orchestica and its language from a historical point of view. This will be followed by the practical-creative experience of the workshops that will set in motion real participatory artistic practices. The purpose of these meetings, 6 in all (14, 21, 28 November, 5, 8, 12 December), based on the concept of memory but also of experimentation with the gesture, is to create new body maps modeled on the characteristics of the Ruskajan technique. . At the end of the workshop there will be a final evening with the presentation to the public of the best works that will subsequently be proposed to institutions and structures that produce shows. 12 scholarships, totally offered by the Foundation, are intended for dancers and choreographers chosen to undertake this theoretical-practical path that will begin on Sunday 14 November. The young people selected, following a cycle of events that include the projection of historical films, discussions, archive insights and practical-creative actions, will have the opportunity to be part of an innovative and re-discovery context completely free of charge. To participate in the selection, you must respond to the Open Call which involves sending your application to [email protected] After a careful evaluation of the curricula of each candidate, an audition will follow on Saturday 13 November at 2.30 pm to select the 12 dancers who will win the scholarship and the opportunity to follow the training activity. To participate in the selections it is necessary to send an email to [email protected] attaching a curriculum vitae and a valid identification document, indicating in the subject ‘Application for participation in the selection of the Orchestica Variation workshop and laboratory’. The candidates selected for the audition in the presence of November 13, will be called by email. Each candidate, on the day of the audition, must be equipped with his own USB key on which he will have loaded the song for selection (in .mp3, .wav, .wma format).
