Winners of the G20 TechSprint 2021 Hackaton announced

The Greenomy teams from Belgium, CRIF and RED from Italy and Home Infrastructure Technology from the United Kingdom are the winners of the G20 TechSprint 2021 initiative, an international “hackathon” style competition, inaugurated in May by the Italian Presidency of the G20 with the aim of highlight the potential of new technologies in responding to some of the most important challenges in the field of sustainable finance. This was announced today by the Bank of Italy and the Bank for International Settlements during a live video awards ceremony held in Milan. An independent commission made up of 21 experts has identified the most innovative solutions for each of the three themes: the Belgian Greenomy team is the winner in the category “Data collection, verification and sharing” with the solution called “Greenomy”, which provides a platform that acts as a collector and presents projects on green finance; the Italian team Crif and RED was the winner in the category “Analysis and assessment of transition risks and physical risks related to climate” with the “Climate Risk Analytics Suite”, which provides a digital platform to support institutions in monitoring and reporting climate-related risks, in line with international recommendations; finally, the British of Home Infrastructure Technology won in the category “Best connection between projects and investors” with the solution “Add To My Mortgage”, which provides support in the financing of more sustainable energy solutions in the field of residential property renovations. Deputy Director General of the Bank of Italy, said: “The G20 TechSprint 2021 initiative has involved innovators from all over the world, inviting them to take on global and complex challenges on the subject of data collection, climate risk analysis and the best link between projects and investors. The three winning solutions demonstrate how technological innovation and finance can creatively solve concrete problems. The search for innovative technological solutions in the field of finance is in line with the traditional mission of central banks to safeguard financial and monetary stability by ensuring that the financial system operates in the interests of people and the economy as a whole “.
