Savings, half of the Italians have run out or almost run out of resources

In the last year there has been a large share of Italians who have shown that they are able to resist difficulties (38%), with an improving economic situation (13%). This is what emerges from the ‘Italians and Savings’ survey, carried out by Acri together with Ipsos and which was presented today, on the eve of the 97th World Savings Day. However, the share of people who have run out or who realize they are close to running out of the resources at their disposal remains high and shows a growth, underlining serious shortcomings, equal to 49% against the 47% recorded in 2020. Going into more detail, the report highlights a dichotomy between families who in the last 2 or 3 years have easily maintained their standard of living (38%), or even improved it (13%), and families, who, with difficulty and at the price of renunciations, preserved it (39%) or had to take note of a deterioration (10%). On the other hand, 62% are very or quite satisfied with the current family or personal economic situation, compared to more than a quarter of Italians (27%) not satisfied with the trend in family finances and a non-negligible percentage (11 %) who declared themselves very worried. worse salary conditions (10%) The percentage of Italians who have managed to accumulate savings in the last 12 months and who have done so with confidence (45%), looking above all to the future, remains very high. At the same time, however, the number of families that made use of their own resources or loans returned to rise again compared to 2020 (19% compared to 16% in 2020), thus describing a less rosy situation that led to associating saving to a sense of sacrifice.As we read in the report, more than half of Italians say they are able to set aside money without too many sacrifices (53%), although this percentage is down compared to last year (58%), thanks to also the trend in consumption. The return to a lifestyle more similar to the past leads one third of Italians (33%) to experience savings with less serenity, similarly to what was observed in 2019 (34%).
