Ocse-Cdp study for the growth of Gss bonds in developing countries

The Directorate for Development Cooperation of the OECD, in collaboration with Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, has worked on a study to find ways to increase emissions of sustainable Gss (green, social and sustainability) bonds in developing countries and has prepared a “Stock take Report”. This work contributes to the work done by the G20 on innovative financial instruments as part of its Development Working Group. In the thematic session “Scaling up green, social and sustainability bonds (GSS) bonds in emerging countries” of the Finance in Common Summit, hosted in Rome by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, the results of the stock take report will be presented, followed by a discussion with speakers , experts and participants. The session will distill the practical and political implications of using these bonds to reach SDGs and mobilize private investors. In fact, sustainable bonds (green, social and sustainability or Gss) have gained ground in recent years in the most developed markets, but the size of these instruments remains limited in developing countries. Public development banks have a catalytic role to play in supporting the growth of the Gss bond market and have pioneered market development. PDBs play a multifaceted role as issuers, anchor investors, private capital mobilizers, technical assistance providers and support in political reforms.
