Alitalia goodbye, here is Ita Airways: blue livery, planes and flights

New brand and new colors for Ita, the ‘blue’ airline that takes the place of the old Alitalia. The announcement came on the occasion of the streaming baptism of the airline, which took off today with the first flight operated by an Airbus A320 numbered Az 1637, departed today from Milan Linate at 6:20 am and landed at Bari airport at 7:45 am. Ita Airways will fly with a new livery. Blue is the chosen color, a symbol of unity, cohesion and pride of the country and representative of sport and the Italian national team. On the rudder the tricolor, on the blue background the gold, white and red logo of Ita Airways and stylized icons inspired by the national artistic heritage. In addition, the “Alitalia” brand was purchased with the aim of managing the transition to the new livery and reserving the right for future uses of the brand. VOLIIta Airways will operate starting today with a network of 44 destinations and 59 routes, 191 flights in total (24 domestic and 56 international), which in 2022 will arrive at 58 destinations and 74 routes to reach 74 destinations and 89 routes in 2025. Charter activity was also inaugurated today with the first Malpensa – Fiumicino flight with Inter, the Italian champion, on board. Ita Airways will focus its activities on the Rome Fiumicino hub and on the Milan Linate airport, where it will position itself as the reference airline for business and leisure traffic. Pending the identification of the strategic partner, Ita Airways will join Sky Team gradually guaranteeing its travelers code sharing with all SkyTeam members with connecting flights. AEREIIta Airways starts with 52 aircraft (7 wide body and 45 narrow body). Already in 2022 the fleet will grow to 78 aircraft (26 new aircraft, + 50% on 2021) of which 13 are wide body (+6 on 2021) and 65 narrow body (+20 on 2021), with the progressive inclusion of aircraft of new generation which by 2025 will reach 75%, with 105 new aircraft (23 wide body and 82 narrow body). The agreement signed with the company Air Lease Corporation will lease another 31 new generation Airbus aircraft including long, medium and short haul aircraft, thus equipping itself with a modern and environment-friendly fleet that will include cutting-edge technologies and which will reduce CO2 emissions by 750,000 tons over the period of the ’21 -’25 plan. For its green fleet, Ita Airways has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus for the purchase of 28 new aircraft: 10 Airbus A330neo for long-haul connections, 7 examples of the Airbus A220 regional aircraft family and 11 aircraft of the A320neo family. Already at the start of operations, the first 10 flights departing today from Fiumicino airport, thanks to a pilot project with Eni and Adr, will embark Saf (sustainable aviation fuel, alternative sustainable fuels) produced by Eni, a leading company in the energy transition process, anticipating the proposals of the EU ‘Fit for 55’ package and thus significantly contributing to the decarbonisation of air transport. An important step, also the result of opportunities for discussion and dialogue offered by the It-Saf National Observatory coordinated by Enac, which will soon be followed by other initiatives to reduce the environmental impact in the Company’s operations.
