Italian Army at the 8th edition of the GIS

The 2nd bridges regiment, combat support unit of the Italian Army, participates in the 8th edition of the GIS event (Italian Days of Lifting and Exceptional Transport), with its own specialty vehicles, highly representative of the modern capabilities of the Armed Force. In particular, in the context of the category of lifters, a note reads, the crane of the genius of medium capacity and the elevating work platform are exhibited, vehicles which, in addition to the specific tasks of deployment of military bases, have often been used in cases of public utility, such as for the preparation of the Campo Hospital deployed in Piacenza, during the first pandemic wave, or for the safety of unsafe homes and buildings. ‘, a module of the motorized floating bridge (Pgm) was positioned which, in an extended and composite configuration, allows the construction of transit lines (bridges), such as the 120-meter one that the 2nd engineering bridge regiment built last 23 September at the Piacenza Airport, on the occasion of a multi-weapon exercise that saw the transit of tracked and armored vehicles of the Italian Army over the structure. Finally, the exhibition area dedicated to the Italian Army sees the presence of an information point, with a video-photographic exhibition dedicated to moments that saw the bridges intervene, in close synergy with the local institutions, to deal with emergency situations in support of civilian population.
