Piazza Affari, energy sales push down the Ftse Mib

In the red by more than 2 percentage points in the middle of the session, the European lists during the second part reduced the losses that the president of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, announced measures to stabilize the energy market. The news was coupled with better than estimated indications from the US labor market: according to estimates made by the US company ADP, in September the private sector of the leading economy created 568,000 new jobs, against 340 the previous thousand and the 425 thousand estimated by analysts. In this context, the main basket of Piazza Affari, the Ftse Mib, ended the session at 25,605.73 points, -1.35% compared to the previous figure. Among the worst performances we find those of stocks in the energy sector, pushed down by profit taking on crude oil (the Brent futures lose 2.1% to 80.8 dollars a barrel): Tenaris closed the session with a -4 , 29%, Saipem showed -4.2% and Eni fell by 1.54%. Crude oil stocks from the leading economy rose by 2.3 million barrels, definitely above the +0.8 million expected by the market. Negative day also for the trio formed by Stellantis (-3.56%), CNH Industrial (-3.8%) and Pirelli (-2.39%) while the shares of the banking sector have, all in all, limited the declines, with -0.25% of UniCredit, + 0.11% of Banco Bpm and -1.12% of Intesa Sanpaolo. Letter instead on Mediobanca (-3.49%). On the rise, the BTP-Bund spread rose by 2 percentage points to 107 basis points. (in collaboration with money.it)
