Milan stock exchange in red, took profits on banks

Session marked by weakness for Piazza Affari which, after a positive start, retraced in the wake of profit-taking on the securities of the banking sector. After the strong gains of the last few sessions, BPER Banca ended with -4.8% and the parent company Unipol fell by 3.83%. The latter announced that it had bought shares of Banca Popolare di Sondrio (-0.5%). The move by the Bolognese company increases the chances of a marriage between the Valtellinese company and the one based in Modena and at the same time reduces the chances that the latter will find an agreement with Banco Bpm (+ 0.46%). In the sector, a minus sign also for UniCredit (-2.03%), always ready to enter the game, and Intesa Sanpaolo (-0.64%). In this context, the Ftse Mib stopped at 24,778.04 points, 0.46% compared to the previous figure. Earnings day for Moncler (+ 0.98%), Diasorin (+ 0.81%) and Telecom Italia (+ 0.78%). With Brent slightly moving at 68.5 dollars a barrel, Eni and Tenaris respectively scored +0.45 and + 0.31% and Saipem closed in perfect parity. According to rumors, Eni is in talks with Alpha Petroleum Resources for a new joint venture in the United Kingdom. Mediaset day of earnings (+ 2.37%) on the day when the CEO of Prosieben rejected the hypothesis of a merger and where Mediaset Infinity was presented, the new platform for viewing the group’s free and paid channels. This morning the Ministry of Economy placed BTP Short Term to 2022 for 3.5 billion. Bids stood at 5.07 billion and the yield fell by 3 cents to -0.33%.
