Fondo Asterion grows in Italy and acquires Samso

Asterion Industrial Partners, an investment management company in European mid-market infrastructures, has signed an agreement for the purchase of Samso, an energy service company active in Italy in the design, construction and maintenance of energy efficiency systems with a team of about 70 people. Samso has built energy efficiency systems for 450 customers in the industrial and public administration world and has developed projects for over 80 Mwp. The transaction is subject to the overcoming of certain conditions precedent, including Golden Power, and is expected to be finalized during the fourth quarter of 2022. The company was founded in 2014 by Igor Bovo and Gianpiero Cascone, Italian entrepreneurs in the energy efficiency and electric mobility. The growth of the group was also favored by the entry into the corporate structure of Melpart, the holding company of Stefano Meloni, which became the majority shareholder in 2016. For Asterion Samso it represents the opportunity to enter the Italian energy efficiency market with an experienced and agile company, with important prospects for organic growth and through acquisitions. Asterion will support Samso in the further development of its Esco business and in expanding the product range from photovoltaic roofs to electric vehicle charging, enabling it to build an integrated energy transition platform. Bovo and Cascone, who will reinvest in the company through their Tobago and PVR companies, will remain CEOs of Samso. Asterion’s acquisition of the majority stake will help.
