The European Union towards crypto regulation

After a long discussion, the European Council finally approved the MiCA, the “Markets in Crypto-Assets” regulation. Now, for the purposes of its legality and application, the document will be submitted to the judgment of the European Parliament. According to the indications of the MiCa, which amends the EU directive 2019/1937, companies and organizations providing crypto services will be obliged to verify the identity of all their customers. The news was welcomed by operators in the sector, who had been calling for a simplification of the regulatory framework for some time.
