Innovative start-ups take center stage at the Genoa Boat Show

Research and innovation were the great protagonists in the morning at the Blue Pavilion of the Genoa Boat Show. The program was opened by the technical seminar “New life for fiberglass”, organized by the Centro del Mare – University of Genoa, which took stock of demolition and sustainable disposal systems with reference to the disposal of pleasure craft. Afterwards, the Terrace hosted two leading events dedicated to the universe of Start Up. The Nautica Appgrade, Lazy-tac, Elettrica Wave, Betty Buoys, Ispace2o Engineering, Nabys, Boatsandgo, Velettrica, E-sea Sharing and Cam, which introduce systems and apps at the service of the sector, from training to the use of services, up to the smart buoy for boats. Alessandro Gianneschi, Vice President of Confindustria Nautica explains. “In a market that is growing by 31%, our companies are ready to invest in innovation thinking about the future and, in this sense, the start-ups gathered at the Boat Show thanks to the collaboration with Agenzia Ice, offer the right support and indications on the subject of new trends. The 10 realities in the showcase represent a very broad generational range: they bring together young people but also companies that have already been active for some time that have got back into the game to bring fresh ideas to the market. They are open to creating partnerships to enter international markets as well “. Paolo Quattrocchi, Industrial Technology, Energy and Environment Office of Agenzia Ice, added:” Ice Agenzia has activated a program of activities since 2019, the Global Start Up Program which is develops in a training course from Italy to move to an operational phase in the main markets in search of potential start-up investors. Support for fairs and initiatives like this one at the Boat Show, which enhances technological innovation, is the basis of the increasingly intense relationship between Agenzia Ice and Confindustria Nautica and includes participation in major international events to support companies and shipbuilding excellence. Italian in the world. ”As always, the activity at the Eberhard & Co. Theater is very intense. The day opened with an interesting report, by Arca Fondi SGR, relating to the project of the Maxi yacht Arca Sgr, the 100 ‘(33 meters) long racing boat of the Fast and Furio Sailing Team, protagonist in the most important regattas of the Mediterranean. A particular story, that of Arca, a redeveloped boat that after years of neglect is living a second life full of sporting satisfactions, in which the watchword is sustainability, as highlighted by Ugo Loeser, CEO of Arca Fondi Sgr, on stage alongside the skipper from Trieste Furio Benussi. Before leaving space for the presentation of the “My Liguria” campaign, by the Liguria Region and illustrated by the regional President Giovanni Toti himself, the Eberhard Theater hosted one of the most anticipated events of the day, dedicated to the Grand Finale of the Ocean Race, the crewed round-the-world sailing trip that will end in Genoa next year. Present on stage, among others, in addition to the President Giovanni Toti himself, the Mayor of Genoa Marco Bucci, the President of the Italian Sailing Federation Francesco Ettorre, Gilberto Gagliardi Bonasegale, General Manager of Porto Antico Spa, Alessandro Campagna, Commercial Director of the Boat Show , in addition of course to the top of the Ocean Race. There are many topics addressed, starting from the numerous activities and initiatives planned in Genoa, for what is considered the most important sporting event of 2023 in Liguria, an appointment that is an integral part of ambitious project to relaunch the Ligurian capital. In the context of “Start up & Blue companies, Innovation and growth in Liguria”, an event promoted by the Liguria Region and Liguria International, the protagonists were high-tech companies and key points of regional economic policy. “In a highly technological way like that of boating which requires constant changes, the union between start-ups and the blue economy is there for all to see even here at the Boat Show”, explained Andrea Benveduti, councilor for economic development of the Liguria Region. “As the Liguria Region, the idea is to give new impulses to our incubators by facilitating the approach to calls for youth start-ups, for widespread innovation at the service of companies and supply chains”. Among the 14 start-ups involved (QH2boat, Gerris Boats, Northern Light Composites, San Giorgio Marine, Micamo Lab, Geoscape, Blue Eco Line, Vega Research, E-ssence, Foodinghy, Boats and go, Innavi, Outbe) the experimentation involved applications to the most diverse sectors and materials, from hydrogen for boats to pleasure boating, from training to the dissemination of sustainable practices.
