School: Imcd Stem Lab was born from Imcd Italia and Bdc school, inclusion and opportunities for young people

Innovation, youth empowerment, active laboratory teaching: these are the ingredients of the project that has made education an opportunity to put young people in direct contact with science and business, in an academic key. What are we talking about? IMCD Stem Lab, an educational project wanted by IMCD Italia and BDC School – the first born from the partnership between the two Italian realities – which, through an innovative academic program on STEM subjects and a real experimental laboratory – brings science, active teaching closer together and business. IMCD Stem Lab, which will officially inaugurate in October and will be active starting from the school year. 2022/2023, is located within the BDC School and can be used by students of different age groups (from kindergarten to secondary school). The STEM Laboratory will be structured for regular use by students who will have access for different types of activities (chemistry experiments, biology activities, coding, educational robotics, etc.). With this project, IMCD puts its know-how and the rich wealth of sectoral skills of its team at the service of the school, which has already started working closely with the teachers of BDC School. The structure of the STEM laboratory is in line not only with the educational philosophy of BDC School but also with the “Inquiry Based Learning” methodology typical of the Anglo-Saxon culture and, in particular, with the modus operandi of Cambridge International that BDC School integrates within of your curriculum. This project will also make it possible to apply the IB curriculum that the school is inserting into its training proposal with BDC Middle School students. IMCD Stem Lab will also be open to non-enrolled students: the goal is in fact to create a meeting point that allows high-level training in scientific subjects for all young people in the Milanese area (and beyond). In particular, great attention will be paid to the theme “Women and STEM studies”. Part of the mission of BDC and IMCD also includes the following objectives: ● to promote women’s access to scientific training courses; ● bring the university and research world closer to the professions, supporting gender equality. Thanks to this double project authorship conceived by IMCD and BDC School, laboratory teaching becomes active and participatory, and thus assumes an important inclusive value, favoring and stimulating more dynamic learning processes.
