Stefano Boeri Interiors signs the first ‘classroom of the future’ in Rozzano in the Milan area

Multifunctionality of spaces, technology, eco-sustainability and safety: these are the four key principles that have guided architects Stefano Boeri and Giorgio Donà, of the ‘Stefano Boeri Interiors’ studio, in the design of the first classroom of the future, created in collaboration with Napisan in the scope of the “Hygiene Together” project. The first prototype of the classroom of the future was donated, to coincide with the start of the new school year, to the Collodi primary school of the Barozzi Beltrami institute in Rozzano, in the province of Milan. Stefano Boeri Interiors’ challenge is to think about models of educational environments that allow experimentation and encourage participation. Light, colors, technology and furnishings are among the protagonists of this new way of thinking about the boundaries of learning: flexible spaces that change and adapt to every need, becoming, if necessary, also music rooms, artisan workshops. and dance schools, changing over the course of the day. A free school open to all forms of learning, at the service of sociability and the whole community. A project, that of the Classroom of the Future, which provides modular classrooms, with movable walls that offer the possibility of modulating the space on the basis of different needs and in the sign of multifunctionality, open spaces oriented towards co-design and integrated with the rest of the school, furnishings designed to involve students and stimulate all their senses. A new lifeblood for the panorama of school structures in Italy that puts technology, safety and eco-sustainability in the first place for a minimum environmental impact thanks to structures that do not require excessive manpower and that are able to exploit natural elements such as wood, the reference material, and natural sunlight to illuminate the spaces. Each surface contributes to the definition of functionality and flexibility: the floor facilitates students and teachers in configuring the necessary space, each time recreating the layout suitable for the specific moment of the day: work in small groups, frontal lessons, informal teaching, etc. A design approach also useful for stimulating metacognitive processes, where the student is stimulated to an autonomous reflection on their own learning processes. The classroom is also equipped with advanced technological systems designed to improve the quality of distance learning, as well as the quality of the environment itself, a fundamental element that contributes to the improvement of learning and belonging processes. Hygiene education, social distancing, air cleaning devices, ordinary cleaning activities and the search for washable and antibacterial materials, are key themes for a conscious restart and to rethink the concept of indoor hygiene and pollution. , who have collaborated and brought their expertise in the construction and furnishing process of the classroom, are: the 3F Filippi | Targetti group which, thanks to the expertise and offer of its three brands – 3F Filippi, Targetti and Duralamp – has been chosen as the exclusive partner for the lighting and IoT management of the classroom, Quadrifoglio Group, a company specialized in the production of complete furnishing systems for work, contract and living environments, which has designed a modular system of full-height walls , completely customized in colors and materials, and mobile benches that act as a grandstand or seat depending on the need; Ibebi, an Italian company that offers customized furnishing solutions for offices and contract environments; who created Pythagoras and Bea, the school table and desk used in the classroom; Antrax, recognized on the international market for the production of furnishing radiators, which produced Trim, the decorative radiator used in the classroom; MR Digital, an Italian company that develops, distributes and integrates innovative technological solutions and products, which has played the role of consultant and technology facilitator; Abet Laminati, one of the most important manufacturers of decorative laminates present in Italy and in over 90 export countries, which gave the possibility to use its laminates inside the classroom; Microsan Italia, a company dedicated to research and development and to the design of integrated systems in the sanitation and prevention of pest control, which was responsible for the sanitation system. The “Hygiene Together” project, now in its third edition this year, is based on the principle of hygiene as a cornerstone of our daily life, in which the actions and habits of individuals have an increasingly direct impact on the community. It is therefore inevitable, in a post-pandemic context such as the current one, to underline the importance of disseminating and teaching good hygiene practices – regardless of age – which have become a key element and not to be overlooked. has carried out a commitment in this direction, placing at the center – in collaboration with partners of excellence such as the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, BVA Doxa and La Fabbrica – the world of school, with particular reference to preschools and primary schools, involving over 10,000 of them throughout the country and donating them products for the sanitation of hands and surfaces, as well as educational and training materials for students and teachers.
