By combining connected appliances with services such as SmartThings Energy with Ai Energy Mode, users are able to maximize energy savings. A few examples: for Samsung washing machines number one for energy efficiency, SmartThings Energy with Ai Energy Mode optimizes laundry washing cycles with technologies such as Ai Ecobubble, which reduces energy consumption by up to 70% by washing clothes with cold water. Samsung refrigerators, also ranked first for energy efficiency in their class, benefit from SmartThings Energy with Ai Energy Mode, intelligently adjusting temperatures based on door opening patterns and compressor speed, allowing users to save up to 10% on energy consumption. This saving is set to reach 30% by the end of the year, with a reduction of 15% thanks to the Ai algorithm which optimizes the compressor speed and the defrost cycles, and with a further reduction of 15% thanks to the maintenance of a higher average temperature inside the fridge. Other noteworthy energy savings figures are 40% for the Eco Heating System, 20% for dryers and 20% by the end of this year for the Residential Air Conditioner (Rac). Furthermore, in the European market starting from this month, for the new Bespoke Ai, Bespoke Bottom Mounted Freezer and Eco Heating System (Ehs) appliances, Samsung is trying to go beyond what is required by the current ‘A’ class, guaranteeing an additional 10 % energy savings for suitable models. Samsung has set itself the goal of ensuring that, by 2023, 100% of large appliances, such as refrigerators, washing machines, Rac and Ehs, are enabled for Wi-Fi and integration with SmartThings. In addition to appliances, together with Qcells, Samsung has developed the Net Zero Home, a truly self-sufficient home capable of generating and storing sustainable energy from solar panels to power the latest and most efficient Samsung appliances, all intelligently controlled by SmartThings. Samsung’s vision for sustainability also includes the company’s advanced Digital Inverter (DIT) technologies. Built on the basis of over 25 years of research and development, the DIT affects everything from energy efficiency to performance to the durability of major appliances. Samsung is also partnering with companies that have sustainability as a goal. In collaboration with Patagonia, Samsung has developed washing machine technologies that can reduce microplastic pollution caused by washing clothes. The new washing machines, arriving in September, will be able to reduce microplastic pollution in washing by up to 54%. The new washing machines are not the only ones to benefit from it, as all the company’s connected washing machines will also have access to this service by the end of the year thanks to the appropriate updates.
