Government, Sbarra (CISL): “We need stability for cutting the tax wedge and zero VAT on consumer goods”

Luigi Sbarra, General Secretary of CISL, said this during an interview with TGPoste. “I hope for a strong call to responsibility – said Sbarra. “We have to face a persistent health emergency, the greatest economic and social crisis since the post-war period and the heavy repercussions of the war in Ukraine. There is a need for stability, governability and a government in the fullness of functions and powers, which can interact with the social partners ”. The Secretary General of the CISL then indicated the most urgent measures to protect workers and families, which do not include the minimum wage by law. “We need to think about the minimum wage, but we show the way to bargaining. There is no need for a state minimum wage, it is trade union relations and bargaining that must help us raise the salaries and wages of those in difficulty. We must use the fiscal lever – continued Sbarra. “We have indicated to the Draghi Government the need to extend the 200 euro bonus aimed at 28 million Italians, we must give structure to the cut in excise duties on the price of fuel, widen the audience of people who benefit from the discounts on the bill, we must make a strong cut to the tax wedge on the part of labor, we must evaluate the possibility of eliminating VAT on the purchases of consumer goods for families in difficulty, we must de-tax the fruits of second-level bargaining, put prices and tariffs under control and create the conditions to raise wages and pensions “. Sbarra also illustrated how to finance these measures. “The taxation on the extra-profits of energy companies, multinationals of the digital economy and logistics is raised, the extra VAT revenue that is entering abundantly due to high inflation is entirely reinvested and a small budget variance is also assessed if necessary” .
