Wilo Italia’s project ‘Mamma, where does the tap water come from?’

Wilo Italia, the Italian branch of the multinational group Wilo Se, present on the national territory for over 35 years, has conceived the project “Mamma, where does the tap water come from?” which aims to illustrate the water cycle to students of primary and secondary schools in Milan, in order to raise the awareness of children and young people about the importance of the conscious use of this precious asset. The project, which the Borgogna Study Center has collaborated on, is configured as a three-day (from 19 to 21 July) of didactic activities at the Idroscalo in Segrate, followed by some water games. Each day is divided into two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, each of which is attended by a group of about 25 children and teenagers. Wilo Italia thought “Mom, where does the tap water come from?” as a moment of enrichment and education regarding the inestimable value of natural resources, and water in particular, all dedicated to the new generations, as explained by Martin Corato, CEO and Country Manager of Wilo Italia. “Sustainability is one of the pillars fundamentals of the Wilo group. We are one of the 50 companies identified by the UN that guide the ecological transition: for us, educating and sensitizing all and especially young people to the responsible use of a precious resource such as water is part of the mission. Our link with the Milan area, which has seen us present for more than 30 years right next to the Idroscalo, was a motivation to create a network and support the enhancement of such a unique place “concludes Corato. The children participating in the project are shown all the phases of the water cycle, from the withdrawal from the subsoil or from a water basin, to the purification and potabilization activity up to the distribution and finally the recovery and treatment of water. During this educational activity, children and adolescents can get to know and admire the Idroscalo, an important place in the Metropolitan City of Milan, chosen as a location not only for the unique scenery it offers but also because it represents a water reserve to be protected, enhanced, respected and tell, as the words of the Director of the Idroscalo Maria Cristina Pinocchi underline. “The common good and the awareness of responsible use of natural resources is a key theme for the sustainable growth of our territory and it fills us with pride to see how the seaplane base is chosen as a stage for events like this, which combine fun with education .
