Aiming at the beginning of 2022 as a time for launch, Kroo intends to enter a growing sector such as the one that regulates the relationship between banks and customers, offering, for the moment, a prepaid debit card and some tools to track the personal and social financial movements, allowing users to easily create groups with friends, track expenses, split and pay bills quickly and securely. The startup also promises a socially conscious sensitivity, pledging to donate a percentage of the profits to social causes. A tree planting project has already been launched: when a customer successfully refers a friend, Kroo plants 20 trees with the aim of creating a forest of one million trees. The company is applying for a full banking license and has built its own microservices and cloud-native technology platform. The funding will be used to drive its growth phase and further develop its product and app offering. Kroo CEO Andrea de Gottardo explained. “We want to build the largest social bank in the world: a bank dedicated to its customers and the world we live in. The increase will support our effort to build a checking account, as well as support the growth of Kroo’s incredibly talented team with 14 new roles already open and more on the way, and to secure a full UK banking license. Our mission has always been to remove any complications in financial iterations with friends and family. To help our customers get more out of their money and spend more time doing what’s important in their life. Big ambitions, no doubt. With a clear vision, great minds and a solid investment behind us – not to mention a lot of hard work – that’s exactly what we’re going to do. That is why I am so pleased that Rudi Karsan, founder of Karlani Capital, led the round. Our ambitious vision is no secret to those who have followed our journey to date. We will not just work with Kroo customers to improve their relationship with money. We will offer different ways to actively participate in making our world a better place ”.
