Price of oil, butter, pears: the top 10 of food increases

Sunflower oil, butter, pears. It is the food products that show the highest price increases. The National Consumers Union has processed Istat data to draw up the ranking of food products which in May recorded the greatest annual increases. As always, the record of increases is due to oil other than olive oil, which rises by 70.2% compared to May 2021 and which is certainly affected by the Ukraine effect and the blocking of sunflower oil imports. In second place in the top 10, butter stands out by 23.3%. On the lowest step of the podium, pears rose by 22.9% in one year, while Tomatoes in fourth place (+ 20.6%). So, the symbolic food of Italy, pasta (fresh and dry) which rises by 20.5%. Followed by flour (+ 18.7%), poultry, which costs 13.8% more on an annual basis, margarine (+ 12.8%), other fruits such as melons and watermelons (+ 12.6% ). Eggs (+ 12.3%) closed the top ten. In the top 20, vegetables (+ 11%), ice cream (+ 11%), packaged bread (+ 10%), and fresh bread (+ 9.4%).
