Risk appetite falls, capital protection drives investments

Risk appetite is decreasing: protecting capital and ensuring an economically peaceful future for loved ones are among the main drivers of every investment choice. This is what emerges from a Bva-Doxa research conducted for Groupama Assicurazioni on the occasion of the second edition of the ‘Change Lab, Italy 2030’ Observatory on trends from now to 2030. According to the research, the pandemic has spread a general climate of uncertainty in society and mistrust, aggravated by the outbreak of war. As soon as the end of these emergencies will seem closer, however only a little more than 1 in 10 Italians (14%) declare that they will look to the future with more confidence, increasing their risk appetite. Instead, it will decrease for almost 3 out of 10 Italians (28%) and for more than 1/3 of the population (36%) there will be no changes compared to the current situation. Capital protection (37%) will therefore affect the future investment choices of our compatriots, but although to a lesser extent the advice and indications of their financial advisor (16%) and environmental factors (16%) will also count. percentage that rises to 24% for young people, more attentive to sustainability, considered an important driver in every choice. Finally, looking at the next decade, real estate and valuables (20%), but also pension, social security and insurance funds (19%) are considered the safest and most promising areas for investments. Less trust reigns, however, towards bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, balanced funds, deposit accounts, equity and bond funds.
