Italians more pessimistic about life expectancy

Italians are more pessimistic about their life expectancy: for 4 out of 10 interviewees in the next 10 years, life expectancy will decrease beyond 82 years. This is what emerges from a Bva-Doxa research conducted for Groupama Assicurazioni on the occasion of the second edition of the ‘Change Lab, Italy 2030’ Observatory on trends from now to 2030. If in 2019 the average life expectancy was over 83 years, dropped today to less than 82, in the next 10 years for 4 out of 10 Italians (41%) it will decrease further: the most pessimistic young people (51%). Trying to project themselves into the future and imagine their own life 10 years from now, half of Italians (51%) say they see a decidedly uncertain prospect. In contrast, however, 43% find in hope the feeling that most reflects their vision of the next decade. For 1/3 of the interviewees (33%) it will be change / transformation that will dominate, but 26% do not deny that they are afraid of the future, a percentage that rises to 34% in the younger age group, from 18 to 34 years.
